Home Renovation and Remodeling Tips
January 17, 2019 Home Improvement
Have you tried and succeeded at home improvement before? Do you know the steps for making complex repairs on old or broken appliances? Read on to discover some home improvement ideas you may not have considered.
Even a small home improvement project can mean a big increase in your home’s value. If you intend to put your home on the market in the near future, do a couple of quick projects to boost your home’s value.
- A good example is a clean coat of interior and exterior paint. This simple fix will cost only $100 or $200, but can increase your equity up to $1,000.
- Roofs can get little leaks in them at any time, so using some 3 inch aluminum tape can help you to patch them up quickly and very effectively. Simply apply the tape by removing its backing and placing the sticky side to the surface you desire. It will create a waterproof surface over those cracks.
- It is a wise idea to consider the area you live in when you plan to make improvements to your home. A Victorian-styled home among a row of small, cute saltbox cottages stands out, and not in a good way. If your remodel blends in with the other homes, your chances will be greater of selling your home in the future.
- Drywall mud can be used not only for repair of pokes and holes, but can also add some visual depth to your walls as a texture agent. It is quite easy to do. Use a trowel to apply the joint compound, and then dab with a sponge, brush, or a crunched up newspaper to add some texture.
- Construction adhesive can be used to stop floors from squeaking. It is best to work your way up from inside the crawlspace or in the basement. Apply some glue to each floor joist with the aid of a caulking gun to secure them to the floor planks.
